Budget 2015 – Duties

Fuel Duty

The Chancellor announced the cancellation of the fuel duty escalator for the fifth year running.

He said the cancellations have resulted in “£10 off a tank with the Tories”, and he wants to make sure the falling oil price is passed on at the pumps.

Alcohol Duty

Beer duty has been cut by 1p per pint for the third year running, and wine duty will be frozen.

Duty on cider and spirits, such as Scotch whisky, will be cut by 2%, in order to back one of the UK’s biggest exports.

Tobacco Duty

Duty on tobacco would increase by 2% above inflation, as previously announced in the 2014 budget.
