Dodds Celebrate NorSCA Awards Nominations

Dodd & Co Chartered Accountants & Business Advisers are delighted to announce that two of their recently qualified Chartered Accountants have been nominated for a Northern Society Presidents award.  This prestigious award covers accountancy firms from the whole of the northern region from east to west.

Kate Brown and Dani Shortland, who passed their final ACA (Association of Chartered Accountants) exams in November 2016, have both been shortlisted in the final 6 of the President’s Award for the Advanced Stage. They have been chosen for demonstrating both; ‘Academic Excellence’ by finishing in the top 20 of highest overall marks in the Northern Society Order of Merit and ‘Exceptional Contribution’ to their organisation.

Kate and Dani began their careers through the apprenticeship programme at Dodd & Co, both wanting to leave school and start earning money straight away. Since finishing their exams, Dani and Kate have been preparing for, and slowly taking on, more responsibility within the firm, whilst thinking about which area of accounting they wish to specialise in. Dani, aged 24, has worked for Dodds for over 6 years and currently specialises mainly in farming accounts. She was very surprised but proud to have been nominated for the award. Kate, also aged 24 with over 6 years at Dodd & Co, has experience in a number of areas of practice including; farming accounts, family businesses and is also a member of the Dodds cloud accounting team. She was equally surprised when nominated but delighted to have been recognised in such a tough category. Both are looking forward to attending the dinner in Newcastle.

Alison Johnston, Staff Partner at Dodd & Co said “We are once again very proud of Kate and Dani, continuing to excel in their achievements and for their consistent contribution to the team.  Both continue to be determined and driven in providing the best service to our clients and equally deserve their nominations.  We’re particularly impressed that unlike many awards, they are being recognised by their own Institute and not by their own self-promotion. We wish them both the very best of luck in the final.”

The Northern Society Awards will be presented at the Northern Society Business and Awards Dinner with guest speaker Steph McGovern, BBC Breakfast business journalist on 13 October 2017 and will be attended by Dani Shortland, Kate Brown and Jeanette Brown (Partner) from Dodds.
