PMS FUNDING REVIEW COMPLETE

NHS England has now completed its review into PMS funding.

In summary the LAT’s have been tasked with ensuring the additional funding received by PMS practices is used for services that go beyond the core national requirements of GMS funding.

Each individual PMS contract will be reviewed against a standard PMS contract by 31 March 2016.

Practices will need to be able to demonstrate the additional PMS funding is being utilised in the manner intended by the contract. Time, partnership and staff changes, and contract variations could all have resulted in additional PMS funding being spent differently to the way intended by the original contract. This could result in that funding being redeployed.

NHS England has stressed that it still aims for all practices to receive the same core funding for providing core services. This will not be achieved by transferring PMS resources to GMS core funding, but by allowing all practices (GMS,PMS and APMS) the opportunity to access the PMS additional funding providing the additional local services.
