Celebrations all round at Dodds

Dodd & Co are pleased to be able to announce a number of promotions within one of Cumbria’s leading accountancy firms with effect from 1 January 2017.

The firm which now employs 150 people across its 2 offices in Carlisle and Penrith,  has promoted a number of staff to management positions.

In Penrith Michael Blenkharn and Stuart Bell have been promoted to client manager and department manager respectively. Michael, from Calthwaite, has been with Dodd & Co for seven years and having completed his training now looks after a portfolio of clients across the healthcare, retail and leisure sectors. Stuart, from Carlisle, who looks after the accounts department and a portfolio of clients as well as being a Cloud Accounting expert has been at Dodd & Co since 2011.

At their Carlisle office Dodd & Co have promoted five staff to manager level, Steven Barnes, Chris Dixon, Joanne Thomlinson, Lisa Murchie and Martin Borradaile.

Steven Barnes, who joined Dodds in 2012 after relocating back to Cumbria from Deloitte in Newcastle continues to work with the audit team here as technical manager and his main role is specialising in private limited companies and ensuring firm wide compliance with standards.

Chris from Carlisle, who has been with Dodd & Co since 1997 has been promoted to Training Manager responsible for our apprentices which is all part of Dodd & Co’s “growing your own” culture.

Joanne Thomlinson who joined Dodds in 2007, returning home to Cumbria after University, has been promoted to manager within the charities team with which she has worked since qualifying. Joanne also has a number of small family owned business clients.

Lisa, from Annan, specialises in the agricultural sector, and has been promoted to manager in the farming team. She looks after a portfolio of clients, the majority of which are family businesses, as well as assisting other partners and managers. She spent her summers working for Dodd & Co whilst at university and then started full time upon graduating in 2009.

Martin Borradaile is one of Dodds many apprentices joining the firm straight from school after deciding University was not for him. He completed his AAT studies followed by his Chartered exams and has recently celebrated 10 years’ service. As a client manager Martin specialises in charities, professional practices, academies and owner managed businesses.
