WARNING – HMRC Scam Emails

We have been made aware of a number of emails and automated phone calls suggesting you are due a refund of tax. Some of these look particularly official and convincing and often include HMRC logos and headers. Please do not be fooled, they are a SCAM!

You should ignore ANY emails claiming to be from HMRC – do NOT open the links and under absolutely NO circumstances should you give them your personal information or your bank account details.

If you are due a refund of tax, you will receive a LETTER from HMRC advising that the refund has already been paid directly into your account (if you provided bank details on your initial tax return). Alternatively a cheque will be issued to refund any owed money. They would never email you to ask for those sorts of details.

If you think you are due a tax refund and have not yet received it or are concerned about the authenticity of any emails sent to you, please get in touch with your usual contact at Dodd & Co. Alternatively you can contact Judith Clark on 01228 530913 or Linda Willis on 01768 864466 who will be able to assist you.
