Would you like to reduce your energy costs? Do you think you are getting a good deal from your existing supplier?
Most business customers are offered a contract by their suppliers of electricity and gas. Contracts can be for 1, 2 or 3 years and often appear to be a better option than the non-contract rates. Before a contract expires the supplier will advise the customer of the rates for subsequent periods. Customers tend to believe that their supplier is offering them a good deal but this is often not the case. By obtaining quotations from alternative suppliers it is often possible to substantially reduce your costs. Dodd & Co is expecting its gas bills at Rosehill to reduce by 35% simply as a result of [recently] switching supplier. It is also worth pointing out that surprisingly not all contracts are fixed price – there are variable price contracts where the price can alter during the period of the contract. By changing one of our smaller supplies from a variable price contract to a fixed price contract we have potentially reduced our bill by 22%. We took advice from an independent broker who made no charge for the service and the process of switching was very straightforward. We will shortly be looking at alternative electricity suppliers prior to expiry of our current contract.
Clients in all sectors spending more than say £2000 a year on gas or electricity can make a worthwhile saving by obtaining competitive quotations. High users such as hotels, pubs, caravan parks, nursing homes, doctors’ surgeries, large offices, industrial premises, retail units, dairy farms and even chip shops can potentially reduce their costs significantly.
If you would like more information contact Darell Hitchen. What have you got to lose? Remember, under the terms of any current contract you will have to give the supplier notice to terminate the contract at least 3 months before the expiry date, otherwise the contract will be renewed at the offered rates and you will be locked in.
