Dodd & Co are supporting charity fundraisers by purchasing a Shelter Box for a lucky employee to spend the night on Cross Fell! Employees have been asked to donate £2 to the fund, all names go in the hat and the first person chosen will spend the night in the Shelter Box. It was even suggested that employees could nominate someone – plenty of anonymous suggestions were put forward! There are only 100 places available for the challenge which will be held from 11-19 July.
The project is being staged by the Rotary Clubs of Upper Eden and Appleby. It is hoped to raise national awareness of, and funds for, ShelterBox which has proved to be a highly effective means of supplying immediate and essential aid, on a worldwide basis, in the aftermath of any major disaster.
Senior Partner Alan McViety who is a member of Rotary pointed out “The weather can’t be guaranteed so whoever ends up on the fell must be prepared for all eventualities, however, the participants will be treat to dinner and breakfast cooked by a top chef and they get a new sleeping bag! Dodd & Co are proud to associated with this event and wish everyone that takes part good luck. We have just drawn Dodd & Co’s Shelter Box and the lucky person is Andrew Benson – who not only put himself forward but was nominated by quite a few of the staff!”.
