Business Rates Relief for Businesses with Property in England

All businesses operating in the leisure, hospitality and retail sectors will receive a business rates holiday for 12 months, irrespective of the rateable value of business properties.

Businesses do not need to apply for business rates holidays as they are based on their receipt of business rates reliefs and rateable values.

Small Business Grant Funding for Businesses with Property in England

A small business grant is available for those businesses in England that qualify for Small Business Rate Relief. This is a one-off grant worth £10,000 to help meet ongoing business costs. A grant of £10,000 is also available for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses who are not in receipt of small business rates relief but have a property with a rateable value of up to £15,000.

For businesses that operate in the leisure, hospitality and retail sectors and that have a rateable value of over £15,000 but less than £51,000 a cash grant is available of up to £25,000 per property.

The grants will be administered by the Local Authorities.

Applications are now available online on some Local Authorities websites. Please check your Local Authority website for details of how to apply. You will need your business rate reference number which can be found at the top of your rates statement from the Local Authority.

These grants are taxable income and therefore subject to tax.
