Free Business Start Up Support

Dodd & Co, working in conjunction with the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, are now running a free business start up course from our Rosehill office in Carlisle and another from Newton Rigg in Penrith. This 3 day course is specifically designed for those who are thinking of becoming self employed or those who have a business in the early years of trading.

The course is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and each of the 3 days will provide valuable information and the ‘know how’ to get your business off the ground and keep it there:

Day One – Business Planning, Sustainability & Self Employment Issues

  • What is self-employment and what does it mean?
  • What is your business?
  • What is a business plan?
  • What else?

Day Two – Marketing, Social Media, Promotion, Sales & Pricing

  • Creating a marketing plan
  • The ‘how’ of marketing
  • Setting a selling price

Day Three – Finance, Bookkeeping, Business Banking & Credit Control

  • What is bookkeeping?
  • Tax and Self employment
  • Business account advice
  • Credit control

I started using QuickBooks 2 years ago and it is the best thing I did for my business and bookkeeping. It is so quick and easy to use. There is less paperwork involved as all my bank accounts are already there and up to date when I log on. Keeping my books up to date with invoices and receipts is so much easier and a lot less time consuming. Dodd & Co provided excellent training for Quickbooks and using the cloud, they are always there to quickly help with any problems. I highly recommend QuickBooks to anyone.
