Giving back this Christmas
Dodd & Co donates £5000 to support life changing charities this festive season.
This Christmas, Dodd & Co is proud to continue its tradition of giving back by donating and fundraising. Every year, the team is invited to nominate causes close to their hearts that deserve recognition and support. Dodd & Co’s chosen Christmas charities this year are Brainstrust and Dragonfly Cancer Trust.
Brainstrust provides personalised support and builds resources that help people with brain tumours and their loved ones live the life they want after diagnosis. They work closely with clinicians to ensure people receive the best possible care and campaign to solve real issues, as they understand the challenges faced by those living with brain tumours.
Dragonfly Cancer Trust is based in the North East and its mission is to support children and young people facing life-threatening cancer diagnoses. They work with specialist cancer treatment centres, hospitals, hospices and families across the UK providing support for young patients with terminal cancer receiving palliative treatment. Their focus is on memory-making, helping young patients to make each moment with their loved ones count.
These charities are particularly meaningful to two members of our team. Jo Batey, Accounts Senior, was diagnosed with a brain tumour late last year and is now in recovery following her surgery. Brainstrust supported Jo throughout her journey with advice and forums, helping her understand her situation and feel less alone. Becky Connelly, also an Accounts Senior, nominated the Dragonfly Cancer Trust after sadly losing one of her best friends this year following a long battle with cancer. Since her friend’s initial diagnosis, the charity supported her friend and family throughout their journey, making every moment matter. Both Jo and Becky nominated these charities as a way of giving back.
Alongside these charities, Dodd & Co have also donated to Penrith and Carlisle Food Banks, CFM Cash for Kids, Carlisle Youth Zone and the Cumbria Community Foundation Winter Warmth Appeal - all providing essential support to families and individuals facing challenges this winter.
Altogether, Dodd & Co have donated £5000 this Christmas to help these incredible organisations continue their vital work.
Joanne Thomlinson, Partner at Dodd & Co, commented: “Supporting charities that mean so much to our team is something we’re incredibly proud of. Every suggestion represented a truly worthy cause; we’re thrilled to help make a difference. These organisations provide essential support during life’s toughest moments, and we hope our contributions help them continue their exceptional work.”
From all of us at Dodd & Co, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
